Method
- Mix flour, baking soda, and salt in a medium bowl.
- Whisk together melted butter, brown sugar, white sugar, egg yolk, and vanilla extract.
- Combine wet and dry ingredients until just mixed, then fold in chocolate chips.
- Chill dough for at least 2 hours.
- Scoop tablespoon-sized balls of dough onto a baking sheet, leaving 2 inches of space between each cookie.
- Bake at 325°F for 12–14 minutes, or until lightly golden.
Notes
For the chewiest cookies, take them out of the oven when they're lightly golden and still soft to the touch.
