Ingredients
  

  • 3/4 cup unsalted butter *
  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg + 1 large egg yolk egg at room temperature
  • 1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 3/4 teaspoon kosher salt more flaky seat salt for sprinkling
  • 1 1/2 cups semi sweet chocolate chips or roughly chopped chocolate

Method
 

  1. Brown the butter in a saucepan over medium-low heat, stirring frequently, until golden brown with a nutty aroma (about 5-7 minutes).
  2. Mix the browned butter, brown sugar, granulated sugar, egg, egg yolk, and vanilla extract in a large bowl.
  3. Add the flour, baking soda, and salt to the mixture. Fold until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
  4. Fold in the chocolate chips, cover, and chill the dough in the fridge for at least 1 hour.
  5. Preheat the oven to 350°F. Scoop the dough into balls, place on parchment-lined baking sheets, and bake for 12-13 minutes.
  6. Allow the cookies to cool slightly on the baking sheet before serving.
