- Brown the butter in a saucepan over medium-low heat, stirring frequently, until golden brown with a nutty aroma (about 5-7 minutes).
- Mix the browned butter, brown sugar, granulated sugar, egg, egg yolk, and vanilla extract in a large bowl.
- Add the flour, baking soda, and salt to the mixture. Fold until just combined, being careful not to overmix.
- Fold in the chocolate chips, cover, and chill the dough in the fridge for at least 1 hour.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F. Scoop the dough into balls, place on parchment-lined baking sheets, and bake for 12-13 minutes.
- Allow the cookies to cool slightly on the baking sheet before serving.
