Ingredients

Peaches
  • 4 cups fresh or frozen peaches, peeled and sliced
Dry ingredients
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
Batter ingredients
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

Method

  1. 1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  2. 2. In a large bowl, combine sliced peaches, granulated sugar, brown sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Let it sit for 15 minutes to allow peaches to release their juice.
  3. 3. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. Add milk and melted butter, stirring until just combined. The batter should still be slightly lumpy.
  4. 4. Pour the peach mixture into the prepared baking dish and spread evenly. Drop spoonfuls of the batter over the top, covering the entire surface.
  5. 5. Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
  6. 6. Let cool slightly before serving. Best served warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.

Notes

For the best flavor, use fresh peaches when in season. If using frozen, thaw and pat dry before using to avoid excess moisture.
