Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups semisweet and/or milk chocolate chips
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Whisk together flour and baking soda; set aside. Cream together butter, sugars, and vanilla until fluffy.
  3. Combine flour mixture with wet ingredients until just mixed. Stir in chocolate chips and salt.
  4. Drop large spoonfuls (about 2 tablespoons each) onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them 2 inches apart.
  5. Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until edges are golden but centers are soft. Cool on the sheet before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

For the best results, use room-temperature butter and take the cookies out when they're lightly golden for maximum chewiness.
